After a bike race in New Braunfels, Texas, I had an encounter that reminded me of the power of small gestures.

The bike race started in one place and ended in another. That meant we had to request a ride from the finish line back to the start. As my wife and I climbed into an Uber to return to our car, we met Sarah, our driver. A welcoming, kind, and friendly person.

At the end of our ride, she handed us index cards with handwritten positive messages. “It’s my way of contributing back to the world,” she said. This simple act touched me profoundly. I identified with her because I am basically doing the same with these daily emails.
