Back in 1968, something important was happening in America. It was a time when things were changing a lot, but there were also a lot of problems. People were fighting for equal rights, during the Civil Rights movement. Two very important leaders were killed. First, Martin Luther King, who fought for fairness and equal rights for black people. Then, two months later, Senator Robert Kennedy, who also cared a lot about treating everyone fairly, was also killed.

These events made Elvis Presley, the king of rock and roll, really sad and upset. Elvis wanted to do something to honor these leaders and share his feelings with the world.

So, while he was working on his special TV show called "Elvis," he had a long talk with his director and friends. They talked about the assassinations and how Elvis wished the world could be a better place. The director thought Elvis had a powerful voice and an important message to share. So together, they wrote a song called If I Can Dream.

Elvis put all his heart into this song, as a way to pay tribute to the leaders who were killed. He even used words that Dr. King had said in the song.

After this experience, Elvis felt really moved. He told his director that he would never sing a song or make a movie that he didn't believe in. It was a promise he made to himself because the song and the emotions behind it meant so much to him. He wanted change.

This song is more than 54 years old now, but it has an important message that is still relevant today. A world that grows more divided and polarized. A world where the narrative is often "us vs them."

In the song, Elvis would sing, "Where all my brothers walk hand in hand." And we should. We should stop fighting with each other and remember that it doesn't matter where we come from, what color our skin is, or what we believe in. We should work together and treat each other like loving brothers and sisters.

"There must be peace and understanding sometime”, Elvis continued. We should be kind to each other, treat each other with respect, and let each other do our own things. Change starts with each one of us. It starts with our thoughts, intentions, and actions. And just like Elvis expressed, "while I can think, while I can talk, while I can stand, while I can walk, while I can dream," we should all try our best and use our unique voices to advocate for equality, justice, kindness, freedom and happiness for all human beings while we are alive.
