The late afternoon sun bathed the sidewalk as I strolled with our pup Zoe, listening to the rhythmic click-clack of her paws. As I glanced down, my gaze fell upon a sight both ordinary and extraordinary. A single blade of grass pushing through a minuscule crack in the pavement. It defied the odds, growing in a seemingly inhospitable environment. Surrounded by nothing but concrete. What compelled this fragile sprout to reach for the sun in such a precarious spot?
This tiny act of defiance sparked a question. Is there intelligence at play, even in the simple act of a blade of grass growing? We see intelligence in the intricate workings of the human mind, but could it also exist in this mundane act of nature?
The answer, the yogis teach, is a resounding yes. Intelligence, in varying degrees, permeates all existence. The way a seed knows to take root, a flower to bloom, or a blade of grass to defy the concrete… all are testaments to an underlying intelligence beyond full understanding.
A scientist could gather all the necessary materials for a seed to grow, but without that vital spark of intelligence, it would remain inert. This intelligence, this Universal Mind, is the unseen hand guiding the growth process, something we cannot replicate despite our technological advancements.
It whispers in the movement of planets, the flow of rivers, and the dance of atoms. Every tiny cell in your body harbors this inherent intelligence, working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep you alive and functioning.
Expressions of the Absolute, the source of all existence. Manifesting as the material that forms everything (matter), the energy that fuels life (force), and the intelligence that guides it all (mind). This interconnectedness suggests that all life, in all its forms, is intelligent, a beautiful and awe-inspiring reality that surrounds you every moment.
