Ebenezer Scrooge from the Charles Dickens' novel, "A Christmas Carol" is a classic story with a powerful message: no matter how much money you have, no matter how many possessions, if you are unkind to everyone around you… you’ll have a miserable existence. You won’t even enjoy your own company.

At the beginning of the story, Scrooge is an embittered and miserly old rich man who shows no kindness or compassion to anyone. He dismisses the idea of charity and refuses to donate any money to the poor, preferring to accumulate his wealth instead.

However, throughout the course of the story, Scrooge is visited by three ghosts who show him his past, present, and future. Through these visions, he is able to see the impact that his unkindness has had on others, including those he loved, worked with and ultimately himself.

Moved by these revelations, Scrooge begins to change his ways. He becomes kind and generous, spreading joy and cheer throughout his community. He donates money to the poor, gives his employee a raise and reconnects with his only family. And of course, he finally feels good with himself.

By the end of the story, Scrooge has transformed from a cold and unfeeling person into a warm and loving one, demonstrating that it is never too late to change and to show kindness to others.

To a yogi, kindness is the most important virtue.

We are all human. We fall, we rise, we make mistakes, we get hurt, we live, we learn. There is no one that’s undeserving of our appreciation, which is why we must strive to empathize with everyone and reciprocate kindness. You can make a lot of money, you can collect plenty of possessions, you can accomplish great things, but if you are cruel, mean, rude and selfish, you’ll end up alone. In the end, how you treat other people is what reveals who you truly are.

The story of Ebenezer Scrooge serves as a powerful reminder that kindness is an essential virtue that we must cultivate in ourselves. Being kind not only brings joy and happiness to those around us, but it also allows us to find fulfillment in our own lives. By showing empathy, compassion, and generosity to others, we can create positive ripples that extend far beyond our immediate surroundings.

So, let us strive to make kindness the cornerstone of our lives, for it is only through kindness that we can build a better world for ourselves and for those around us.
