The human body is an incredible machine that is perfectly adapted to our needs. According to the Yogi philosophy, this amazing body is the work of a great intelligence that has taken the utmost care in designing and maintaining it.
This intelligence that created the human body still runs behind every function of it and can be trusted. It is always on the alert to repair damage, heal wounds, glue together broken bones, and get rid of harmful substances from the system. Disease, which we usually perceive as harmful, is actually a beneficial action of nature designed to eliminate poisonous substances that we allow to enter and remain in our body.
The Yogi philosophy acknowledges that the soul needs several things to manifest physically.
First, a highly organized physical instrument of thought, which is provided by the human brain. The brain is the central station from which the soul directs the workings of the body.
Second, it needs organs designed to receive and record various forms of impressions from the outside world. Nature provided the eye, ear, nose, organs of taste, and nerves to feel.
Then, the brain needs to communicate with the rest of the body. Nature wired it with nerves in a wonderful way that allows the brain to send instructions to all organs, cells, and parts of the body and receive feedback from them.
The body also needs means of moving around and using tools. Nature provided limbs, muscles, and tendons.
Then, it required a frame to keep it in shape, protect it from shock, and give it strength and firmness, and nature provided the skeleton.
The body needs a way of communicating with other embodied souls, and nature provided organs of speech and hearing.
It also needs a system to carry repair material to all of its internal systems, which is accomplished through the blood, arteries, and veins. Then the lungs oxygenate the blood and burn up the waste matter.
Then, the body requires material from the outside world to build and repair its parts. Nature provided a way to eat food, digest it, extract nutrients from it and excrete the waste portion.
Finally, the body is provided with the means of reproducing its kind and providing other souls with fresh bodies.
The human body is a wonderful mechanism. It is not a coincidence, but the work of a mighty intelligence. We should trust this intelligence and open ourselves to its inflow. We should help our body and not hinder it by making things more difficult for it. If we study the incredible mechanisms of the human body, we can see this great life principle in action, and by doing so, we can benefit ourselves.
