The rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in recent months has been mind-blowing. Everywhere we look, whether it's social media, YouTube, or the web, the term "AI" seems to dominate discussions. It’s become almost annoying. There’s a lot of speculations about AI's impact on our lives. Will it replace humans in some jobs and make them obsolete? Perhaps. It is true that AI may outperform humans in certain areas, but it is also important to remember that the majority of creative endeavors, which rely on human ingenuity and emotional input, will remain unaffected.
AI possesses exceptional intelligence and will only become smarter and grow more sophisticated with time. No question about that. But there are aspects of human existence that AI will never be able to emulate. Our individual voices, life experiences, personal journeys, inner work, and unique perspectives cannot be replicated by AI. These qualities define our authenticity, vulnerability, and distinctive outlook on life. It is in these areas that AI falls short and always will.
Of course, the ancient Yogis didn’t know anything about AI nor did they predict the invention of computers. But they understood one fundamental truth: within each of us resides a divine spark, a manifestation of the Absolute. Humans possess something that AI will never possess—a spirit. The deep connections humans forge with loved ones, the heartfelt gaze of a mother into her child's eyes, the warmth shared in a fleeting interaction with a stranger on the street, and the intimate experience of a kiss—all these elements of human connection are beyond the grasp of AI.
The creative impulses that emanate from inside of us, the ability to meditate and connect with our inner selves, and our capacity for spiritual growth are all unique to us. They allow us to produce marvelous things and harness our creative power for self-expression. These irreplaceable qualities embody the divine spark within us.
AI is a remarkable tool. When used correctly, it has the potential to facilitate the creation of great works, spark magnificent ideas, and, hopefully, make work more manageable. By freeing up time through increased efficiency, AI can enable us not only to work and produce more but also to invest more time in our personal growth. It can free some of our time, time that we can use to embrace stillness, to fully experiencing life, and to learn the valuable lessons that propel us forward on our individual journeys.
While the impact of AI on the job market is a topic of concern and speculation, recognize that its capabilities are limited. The human spirit, with its unique qualities and the profound connections we forge, remains beyond the reach of machines. Our ability to engage in creative endeavors, express our individuality, connect with others, and nurture our spiritual growth will never be replaced by AI.
View it as a tool. A wonderful, powerful and useful tool, but a tool nonetheless.
