Your Choices Matter

Consider the impact of your actions. Align them with the highest good for all beings. You are part of a grand story of human evolution, stretching back millions of years and into a future we can barely imagine.

Your Choices Matter

Picture a scene from our distant past. A tribe gathered around a fire, their faces illuminated by flickering flames. Among them, a mother cradles her newborn, her eyes filled with love and uncertainty. The child has less hair than others, and the tribe's elders have deemed it unfit to survive. In another tribe, a young girl is chosen as a sacrifice to appease the gods after an elder's death. These practices were once considered normal, even necessary, horrifying to our modern sensibilities.

Yuval Noah Harari's book "Sapiens" challenges our assumptions about morality and progress by depicting the world of our ancestors. These early humans, like us, loved their families, celebrated, and sought meaning in their existence. Yet, their actions often seem barbaric through our contemporary perspective.

Yogi Ramacharaka speaks of the evolution of morality as part of our spiritual journey. He reminds us that what’s acceptable today may horrify future generations. Just as we recoil at killing infants or abandoning elders, our descendants may view our use of fossil fuels, treatment of animals, and war weapons with disgust.
