Complaining Won't Help
It is useless for you and for society to be cynical and complain about the problems we face today. Yes, there’s plenty of things that need enormous improvement. But look at how far we’ve come. Be grateful for the world around you and keep improving yourself.
In the book Sapiens, Yuval Noah Harari reminds us how people lived a long time ago, before we started farming and using machines. Some tribes killed babies who were born with less hair than usual. They sacrificed little girls every time an adult died. And other tribes left old people alone to die because they were considered a burden. Cruel and barbaric practices.
The portrayal of the world as a place of despair and separation is a common theme in today's media and society. We are bombarded with images of war, conflict, inequality, political polarization, and natural disasters. It leads people to feel hopeless and cynical about the current state of affairs. It makes it seem like we live in one of the worst times in human history.
But if you compare the way we behave today to how our ancestors behaved, you'll see that we have come a long way. The world we are living in right now is far better than before, continuously improving and constantly changing for the better.
