Further Back and Further Out
Every time we think we've reached the limits of human achievement or understanding, someone digs up evidence that pushes those boundaries further back. And further out. We must stay humble about what we think is impossible.
I was watching "Ancient Apocalypse" on Netflix, where researcher Graham Hancock explores ruins that are rewriting human history. What struck me wasn't just the discoveries themselves, but how they expose the fascinating way human knowledge evolves through humility.
Take the Amazon rainforest. For centuries, archaeologists insisted the dense jungle could never have supported large civilizations. Then climate change and deforestation accidentally revealed something extraordinary.
Vast networks of earthworks, raised fields, and geometric shapes stretching across thousands of acres. Sophisticated cities with advanced water management systems, proving that ancient peoples had mastered living in the rainforest in ways we're only beginning to understand.
