Remain Unshaken

He who is slow to anger is mightier than the strongest warrior, and he who masters his own spirit is mightier than the conqueror of cities.

Under the watchful eye of his guru, every detail of his property's management was meticulously attended to. Despite this diligence, unscrupulous people attempted to take possession of the guru's land. Undeterred, Sri Yukteswar faced each challenge head-on, with determination and strategic legal actions to outsmart every adversary.

One day, a court deputy arrived to serve a legal warrant, his demeanor dripping with disdain as he entered the temple. Yogananda and another disciple escorted the officer to their guru, who remained serenely composed in the face of the man's offensive attitude. Yogananda, unable to contain his indignation, issued a sharp warning, threatening the officer with swift action if his insolence persisted.

Yet, Sri Yukteswar, a picture of tranquil strength, stood firmly before the offender. "Don't get excited over nothing. This man is only doing his rightful duty," he calmly reassured his disciples. Surprised by the guru's composed response, the officer offered an apology before departing.

Yogananda marveled at his guru's remarkable blend of fiery resolve and serene composure. "Gentle as a flower when kindness is needed; stronger than the thunder where principles are at stake," he reflected.
