Look At How Far We’ve Come

Don't get caught up in the negative news and events happening around the world. Focus on the progress we have made. You’ll feel inspired to keep improving yourself and the world around you.

In the book Sapiens, Yuval Noah Harari talks about how people lived a long time ago, before we started farming and using machines. Some tribes killed babies who were born with less hair than usual. They sacrificed little girls every time an adult died. And other tribes left old people alone to die because they were considered a burden.

The portrayal of the world as a place of despair and separation is a common theme in today's media and society. We are bombarded with images of war, conflict, inequality, political polarization, and natural disasters. It leads people to feel hopeless and cynical about the current state of affairs. It makes it seem like we live in one of the worst times in human history.

But if you compare the way we behave today to how our ancestors behaved, you'll see that we have come a long way. The world we are living in right now is far better than before, continuously improving and constantly changing for the better.

Yes, there is still a lot of suffering around the world, but it relatively pales in comparison to the atrocities of earlier generations.

The teachings of the Yogis urge us to compare the world of a century ago with the world today. To observe how much more compassionate and loving we have become. As we grow spiritually, we become more aware of our connection to all humanity. Our love for fellow human beings grows stronger. It hurts more and more to see others suffering.

Don't get caught up in the negative news and events happening around the world. Focus on the progress we have made.

Spread kindness to everyone. Always do your best. Do the right thing. Participate in society. Learn about different cultures and perspectives. Help other people when you can. Treat family, friends, and strangers with respect and dignity. Avoid contributing to animal suffering. Respect Mother Nature.

It is useless for you and for society to be cynical and complain about the problems we face today. Look at how far we’ve come. You’ll feel inspired to keep improving yourself and the world around you.
