The Path to Real Inner Peace

The Yogis' wisdom illuminates the path towards inner peace – recognizing your control over the mind and a daily meditation practice. Through this disciplined commitment, you not only become the master of your reactions but also find an even-minded calmness within the depths of your being.

As humans, it is inevitable to identify ourselves with our physical bodies; it is the most apparent of the human principles. After all, we can see it, touch it, feel it, and it's the vehicle we use to experience life.

We usually think of ourselves as being a body that has a mind and a soul, or as being a mind that has a body and a soul. But in reality, we are a soul that has a body and a mind.

It's not surprising; after all, we are conditioned to believe only in that which we can perceive with our senses. It is hard to believe in things we cannot see.

The Supreme Intelligence of the Universethe Absolute—as the Yogis call it, has manifested us humans, the highest manifestation on this planet. We are a wonderfully organized being that has tools to help us navigate through life and learn lessons.

Our mind is one of those tools. Our thoughts, feelings, and emotions help us analyze and make sense of the world. If we want to use this tool to the best of our advantage and if we want to avoid outer circumstances bothering us, we have to cultivate inner peace.

"The mind in chaos finds chaos all around."

Paramahansa Yogananda

But how? How can you cultivate inner peace? It's easy to say that you only need to control your emotions, reactions, and thoughts. But how do you get to a state where you can actually do that?

The ancient wisdom of the Yogis offers profound insights into this process. First, you have to understand that you are not your mind. Then you have to develop a daily meditation practice. There's really no other way.

Throughout my adult life, I have experienced that only when I am meditating consistently every day am I able to build a mental conception of separation from my mind and therefore the ability to let go of my emotions and thoughts. Otherwise, when I am not meditating consistently, I just believe I am my thoughts and emotions. I identify with them, and by doing this, I struggle to get rid of them.
