Far Greater than Any Story

When you let go of your need for concrete imagery and embrace the mystery of The Absolute, you open yourself to a deeper, more profound understanding.

Far Greater than Any Story

The starlit sky stretches endlessly above you. Its vastness is humbling; its beauty, awe-inspiring. Now, imagine trying to capture that infinite expanse in a single image or story. This is the challenge we face when attempting to describe the indescribable— that which the yogis call "The Absolute."

Throughout history, humans have created countless tales and characters to represent the divine. From Zeus hurling thunderbolts atop Mount Olympus to Ganesh, the elephant-headed remover of obstacles, these stories have helped us grasp the concept of a higher power. But just as a child outgrows their belief in Santa Claus while retaining the spirit of generosity and joy, so too must we evolve our understanding of the divine.

The yogis, in their wisdom, chose to call this ultimate reality The Absolute. It's a term that transcends the limitations of personification. It doesn’t conjure images of an old man with a flowing beard or a multi-armed goddess. Instead, it points to something beyond our ability to fully comprehend or describe.

Think about it. How can we, with our limited human minds, truly grasp the entirety of existence? It's like trying to fit the ocean into a teacup. Our myths and stories are merely attempts to make the infinite digestible, to give form to the formless.

This is evident in the diversity of religious traditions. In Christianity, God is often portrayed as a loving father. In Hinduism, there are countless deities representing various aspects of the divine. Islam emphasizes the oneness of Allah. Each tradition offers a unique lens through which to view the ultimate reality, but none can claim to capture its entirety.

The Absolute is beyond such limited perceptions. It's the underlying essence of all existence, the thread that connects all things. It's not a being separate from creation but the very fabric of reality itself. It is manifest in the seen and unseen, the known and the unknown.

When you let go of your need for concrete imagery and embrace the mystery of The Absolute, you open yourself to a deeper, more profound understanding. You move beyond the stories and myths—valuable as they are—to touch something ineffable yet intimately present in every moment.

Tonight, as you gaze at that star-filled sky, remember—you’re not just looking at distant points of light. You’re witnessing a small glimpse of The Absolute, the infinite source from which all things arise. And in that moment of awe and wonder, you might just feel a connection to something far greater than any story could ever capture.
