Nurture That Spark

A newborn, nestled in its crib, eyes wide with wonder at the world around it. Within that tiny form lies the potential for greatness – a future doctor, artist, or athlete perhaps. Yet the infant has no awareness of these possibilities. It simply exists in the present, driven by basic needs and instincts.

This image serves as a metaphor for the divine spark that resides within you. Just as the infant contains the seeds of its future self, you too carry within a flame of infinite potential. This spark, this connection to the divine, is always present, always burning. But like the infant, we are often unaware of its existence or its true power.

The Yogis teach that this divine essence is your true nature, your highest self. It's the part of you that connects to the vast ocean of consciousness from which we all emerge. But in your day-to-day life, caught up in the mundane and the material, you lose sight of this inner light.

You journey through life, face challenges, learn lessons, and grow in wisdom, slowly becoming more aware of this inner flame. It's a gradual awakening, a slow unfoldment of your true potential. Each experience, each triumph, even each failure, serves to stoke this divine fire within you.

A child slowly becomes aware of their abilities as they grow. They learn to crawl, then walk, then run. They discover their talents, their passions, their unique gifts. In the same way, as you progress on life's journey, you uncover more and more of your divine nature.

But most of us don't truly know ourselves. We've barely scratched the surface of our inner landscape. We're like that infant, unaware of the vast potential that lies dormant within. Our powers, our qualities, our true essence – they remain hidden, waiting to be discovered and nurtured.

The Yogi path offers a roadmap for uncovering this hidden treasure. Meditation, selfless action, self-reflection, and self-control. You peel back the layers of conditioning and false beliefs that obscure your true nature. You learn to recognize and cultivate the spark of the divine that has always been there.

You are not your job, your roles, or your responsibilities. You are a divine spark, a flame of the Absolute, slowly awakening to your true nature. Nurture that spark. Fan those flames. Allow yourself to grow, evolve, and unfold, just as the infant grows into its full potential.
