Five Habits to Keep Your Body Healthy

Your body is a remarkable machine that needs simple things to function properly. Work on it. Nourish it. Hydrate it. Give it what it needs to thrive, and you will reap the benefits of a healthy life.

Your body is constantly undergoing change. Atoms of bone, tissue, flesh, muscle, fat, and fluids are constantly used and removed from the system, and new atoms are constantly being manufactured.

With just a few small practices, your body can thrive and stay healthy. Make these 5 habits part of your daily routine:

1. Breathe fresh air

Breathing is at the center of your existence. From the moment you are born until the moment you die, you are breathing. All the functions in your body depend on breathing. Get outside every day, open your windows and breathe fresh air.

2. Soak up the sun

Your main source of vital force is from inhaling fresh air, and that air receives energy from the sun. Without the sun, life would be impossible. Your body depends on it. Do not run away from sunlight; let it into your rooms and go outside to receive its vitalizing rays.

3. Drink Plenty of water

It’s no secret that your body is made up of around 70% water. Every cell, tissue, and organ needs water to be healthy. Your blood would be dust without it. Give your body the water it craves. Drink a minimum of 2 quarts or four 16oz bottles every day.

4. Eat nourishing food

To the Yogis, food does not mean something just to satisfy your appetite, but instead, it just means nourishment. Eat plain meals, nothing fancy or extravagant. The less processed, the better. The more natural, the better. And chew it well so that it can be properly digested.

5. Keep your body moving

No part of your body is properly nourished unless it is used regularly. Don’t let your muscles and joints get weak. Go for daily walks, ride a bike, go for a run, stretch on your yoga mat, lift some weights, do some pushups. Just keep your body moving.

Your body is a remarkable machine that needs simple things to function properly. Work on it. Nourish it. Hydrate it. Give it what it needs to thrive, and you will reap the benefits of a healthy life.
