The Storm Before The Calm

All your struggle, pain, life, and effort really are directed toward the unfoldment of your soul so that it may recognize its real self.

"Of all the joys on Earth, few compare to the crowning glory of achieving against the odds, succeeding in the face of peril, or triumphing over adversity. Wouldn't you say? Yet, in every such case, without exception, the poor odds, the peril, and the adversity must come first."

Mike Dooley, from The Universe Talks

And this is one of the key principles of the Yogi philosophy. You are like the flower that blooms after the storm has passed, but not before. You are put into circumstances that make your heart bleed, that challenge you in every way, that cause conflict, that demand sacrifices. Experiences that you may wish you were not going through.

But imagine if life were always easy. Imagine if you didn't have to overcome any obstacle. Imagine if you didn't have to put effort into anything. Imagine if you had no incentives to become better than you were yesterday.

What if the thing you are going through right now were custom-designed to set you up for some really big dreams coming true? What if it's just teaching you something that will be valuable to you in the future? What if you have to go through it first to come out with a better perspective on life afterward?

Remember, as Yogi Ramacharaka wrote, that “all of this struggle, pain, life, and effort really are directed toward the unfoldment of the soul so that it may recognize its real self. This is the meaning of life—of evolution."
